How to test the durability of connecting wires
01/08/2025

The durability test of connecting wires can be simplified into three modules: "mechanical environment electrical", which can be executed in the following order:

Mechanical durability

• Bending life: ± 90, R=5 mm, no breakage after reciprocating ≥ 1000 times

• Plug and unplug cycle: The connector is repeatedly plugged and unplugged ≥ 750 times, and the contact resistance changes ≤ 50 m Ω

Vibration impact: 10-500 Hz, acceleration of 20 g, continuous for 24 hours without looseness

Environmental durability

• Temperature cycle: -40 ° C ↔ + 85 C 500 cycles, no cracks in appearance, resistance change ≤ 5%

High temperature aging: insulation does not become brittle at 105 ° C for 1000 hours, and the increase in conductor resistance is ≤ 5%

Damp heat/salt spray: 95% RH for 168 hours or salt spray for 96 hours, with no rust on the surface

Electrical durability

• Insulation resistance: ≥ 500 M Ω (still meets the standard after testing)

• Voltage resistance: 1500 V AC for 60 seconds without breakdown

Signal attenuation: 100 MHz attenuation ≤ 20 dB (still qualified after bending/aging)
